Water Therapy for Rosebery, NSW
At Rehab First, serving Mascot, Botany, Rosebery and surrounding suburbs in NSW, we are committed to providing cutting-edge treatments that support your journey toward recovery and optimal health. One of our most effective and sought-after therapies is hydrotherapy, a powerful modality that uses the properties of water to promote rehabilitation, relieve pain and enhance physical function.
Advanced Hydrotherapy for Comprehensive Rehabilitation
Hydrotherapy, also known as aquatic therapy, possesses many therapeutic benefits, and at Rehab First, we harness these benefits to deliver a treatment experience that is both gentle and effective. Water’s natural buoyancy reduces the impact on joints and muscles, making it an ideal environment for patients with conditions such as arthritis, chronic pain, or post-surgical recovery. This reduced load allows for increased mobility and range of motion without the discomfort often associated with traditional land-based exercises.
Our hydrotherapy sessions are guided by Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists who are trained in aquatic rehabilitation techniques. These sessions are customised to the client’s individual needs and goals, focusing on improving strength, mobility, flexibility, balance and overall function. The warm water environment not only soothes pain and relaxes muscles but also stimulates circulation, which is essential for healing and tissue repair.
Hydrotherapy at Rehab First is particularly beneficial for those who find it challenging to engage in conventional physical therapy due to pain or limited mobility. It offers a supportive, low-impact environment where progress can be made safely and comfortably. Whether you are recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or seeking to improve your overall physical health, hydrotherapy can be a crucial component of your rehabilitation plan.
What to expect from aquatic therapy:
Your physiotherapist may suggest a course of five or six 30-minute sessions of aquatic therapy. This is a one on one treatment session and the exercises suggested for you will be personalised depending on your concerns.
On your first session, please bring with you:
- a swimming costume
- your own towel
- any medications that you may need – either for your arthritis or for any other conditions you may have.
You don't need to be able to swim to benefit from aquatic therapy – although swimming is also a good form of exercise for arthritis. The pool is quite shallow and we can create different levels in depth so you can exercise at the depth that suits you.
There are a few steps down into the pool, but if you have trouble with steps there is also a mechanical hoist to get you in and out of the water. There will be a rail around the sides of the pool for extra support if you need it.
Once you're in the water, your physiotherapist, or exercise physiologist with special training, will take you through a series of exercises that are suited to your needs, strength and mobility. Usually the focus is on slow, controlled movements and relaxation using the waters resistance.
Because the water provides support you may feel that you can exercise more than you normally would, so be careful not to overdo it. However, it’s quite normal to feel tired after an aquatic therapy session.
At Rehab First, we are dedicated to our client’s rehabilitation, helping you regain your strength, mobility and quality of life. Experience the therapeutic benefits of water with our specialised hydrotherapy services, where your recovery is our priority. Contact us today on 8339 1394.
